Why does Les admire Apollos?
Apollos is admired because, though a great and magnetic speaker who knew only the Gospel of the Kingdom, he humbly sat down and listened to Priscilla and Aquila, two lowly tentmakers, allowing them to expound the way of God more perfectly.
Les teaches that Apollos knew nothing of Paul's Gospel; he only knew the Gospel of the Kingdom preached by Jesus, the twelve, and John the Baptist—repentance, baptism, and believing Jesus was the Christ. When Aquila and Priscilla heard Apollos speak boldly in the synagogue, they took him aside and expounded the way of God more perfectly. Les admires Apollos because, though a great and magnetic speaker, he listened to these two lowly tentmakers and accepted their correction, showing God always has the right person at the right place at the right time.
