What confines believers under grace?
Love for God, especially love for the One who bought them, and love for other people confine believers even under grace. These two loves keep them within the guidelines of God’s commandments; the other nine commandments remain part of Christian experience, while the Sabbath does not.
Les teaches that two lines on the board confine believers even under grace: on one side, love for God—the love for the One who bought us—and on the other side, love for other people. That love keeps believers within the guidelines of God’s commandments. He explains that while the Sabbath has nothing to do with the believer today, and Paul never mentions that commandment, all the other nine commandments are still part and parcel of Christian experience. Being a believer does not give the right to commit adultery, kill, covet, or do these other things. Love keeps us in the straight and narrow, and Ephesians 4 says love works no ill to his neighbor.
