Why is nothing forced upon believers who are under grace?
Grace is not law. Because believers are under grace and not under law, nothing is forced upon them. All of God's grace is experienced the moment they believe, yet they still grow in grace. They do not grow into grace; from that position in grace they grow as God intends.
Les teaches that every person saved by the grace of God experiences all of God's grace at salvation—the moment they believe. But believers still have a long way to go in growth. Peter puts it aptly: we grow in grace; we do not grow into grace. We do not begin to grow and then finally appropriate grace; rather, all of God's grace is poured out on us the moment we believe, and from that position in grace we grow and grow, if we do as God intends. Since grace is not law, and we are under grace and not under law, nothing is forced upon us. That is the beauty of grace.
