What happens when a believer sins under grace instead of law?

When a believer sins under grace rather than law, they are not utterly chastised or cast out. Instead, God deals with them in love. He will discipline them if they fail and do not respond, moving from one level of discipline to another.

Les explains the difference between grace and law. Under law, picking up sticks on the Sabbath brought death by stoning. But believers are not under that. If we sin or fail, we will not be utterly chastised or cast out. Instead, God deals with us in love. He will discipline us when we fail if we don't respond, and He will move from one level of discipline to another. Yet it is still up to us as believers. We have intense liberty that few in Christendom understand. This follows the assurance that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus, and the word 'beseech' in Romans 12 means a pleading, not a command with an 'or else.'
