What happens when a believer sins, since we are not under the law?

When a believer sins, since we are not under the law, they will not be utterly chastised or cast out. God deals with them in love, disciplining them if they do not respond, and He moves from one level of discipline to another. This reflects the liberty believers have under grace.

Les explains that the law said picking up sticks on the Sabbath brought death by stoning, but believers are not under that. If we sin or fail, we are not going to be utterly chastised or cast out; instead God will deal with us in love. He will discipline when we fail if we do not respond, and He will move from one level of discipline to another. It is still up to us as a believer, and we have such intense liberty that very few people in Christendom understand. Paul beseeches rather than commands, showing the difference between grace and law.
