What happens to believers today when they sin under grace instead of law?
Under grace, believers who sin are not utterly chastised or cast out as under law; instead God deals with them in love. He disciplines when they fail if they do not respond, moving from one level of discipline to another. They have intense liberty and are not under the law's stoning penalty.
Les teaches that the contrast is between grace and law. Under law, picking up sticks on the Sabbath brought death by stoning. But believers today are not under that. If we sin or fail, we will not be utterly chastised or cast out; rather, God deals with us in love. He will discipline when we fail if we do not respond, and He moves from one level of discipline to another. It is still up to us as believers, who have intense liberty few in Christendom understand.
