Why do people reject God's light?

People reject God's light because they are born of Adam and are therefore sinners by nature. Every child of Adam detests the light and does not want it. No human being ever seeks God; God takes the first move, and they are condemned already.

Les teaches that no human being ever seeks God; God is always the seeker, makes the first move, and prompts a person to respond. From John 3:17-20, God is not willing that any should perish. The believer is not condemned, but the one who does not believe is condemned already by virtue of being a child of Adam. Les explains that people do not become sinners because they sin; they sin because they are sinners by being born of Adam. Thus every child of Adam detests the light and does not want it, and they are condemned already, as Jesus said.

John 3:19

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

Why do people reject the light and stay in darkness instead of coming to God?

People reject the light because they love darkness rather than light, since their deeds are evil. Those who do evil hate the light and do not come to it, lest their deeds be reproved. Scripture further shows that man in his own desire will never seek God; God is the seeker who brings sinners to believe.
