Why do people reject the light of the gospel if the Word is right there for them?

Les teaches that no human being has ever come into life without having the light God has given, and consequently they are held responsible. In Romans 10:8, Paul writes that the word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth. This is not merely a casual statement or words to fill a page; it means what it says. The Word is nigh every human being and is there for the taking. So why do they not take it? Les explains that they refuse to step into the light, because the light will reveal what they are really made of, and they do not want to see or hear. They reject the light to their own doom, and it is sad because Christ tasted death for every man. Paul says in II Corinthians 5 that the love of Christ constraineth us, because if He died for all, then all were dead. Coming back to Romans 10, the Word is not only nigh thee but in thy mouth, and it is the Word of faith, not works or legalism.
