Why do people reject the light and not take the Word?
The Word is near every human being, even in their mouth, but people refuse to step into the light because it would reveal what they are really made of. They do not want to see or hear, so they reject the light and the Word to their own doom.
Les teaches that no human being has ever come into life without the light God has given, and consequently they are held responsible. The Word is nigh thee, even in your mouth; this is not a casual statement or words to fill a page, but it means what it says. The Word is nigh every human being and there for the taking. The reason they do not take it is that they refuse to step into the light, because the light will reveal what they are really made of, and they do not want to see or hear. So they reject the light, but for their own doom. It is sad because Christ tasted death for every man, and Paul says in II Corinthians 5 that the love of Christ constraineth us, because if he died for all, then all were dead. Coming back to Romans 10, the Word is nigh thee and in your mouth; it is the Word of faith, not works, not legalism. Believe, believe, believe.
