Why do people refuse to take the Word of God?
The refusal stems from an unwillingness to step into the light. That light exposes what a person is really made of, and they do not want to see or hear. Therefore they reject the light, but to their own doom, even though the Word is near and available.
Les teaches that no human being has ever come into life without having the light God has given, and consequently they are held responsible. The Word is nigh every human being; it is there for the taking. The reason people do not take it is that they refuse to step into the light, because the light will reveal what they are really made of, and they do not want to see or hear. So they reject the light, but for their own doom. Les explains that Christ tasted death for every man, and Paul says in II Corinthians 5 that the love of Christ constraineth us, because if He died for all, then all were dead. The Word is not only nigh but in the mouth—the Word of faith, not works or legalism. Believe.
