Les Feldick Bible Study

Will God ever cast aside Israel?

No. Scripture is adamant that God will never cast aside Israel. Jeremiah 31 declares that only if the ordinances of sun, moon, stars, and sea depart, or heaven can be measured, would He cast off the seed of Israel for all they have done. Since these cannot happen, God remains faithful to His covenant promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Les teaches that the idea God is through with the Jew, or that He cast them off when they crucified their Messiah, is wrong. Scripture is adamant that He will come back and fulfill the covenant promises made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. In Jeremiah 31, God compares His commitment to Israel to the fixed ordinances of the sun, moon, stars, and sea. Only if those laws of nature depart, or if heaven above can be measured and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, would He cast off the seed of Israel for all they have done. Since that cannot be done, He will never cast aside Israel. Les explains that when Israel rejected Messiah, God raised up Saul of Tarsus, known as Paul, and sent him primarily to the Gentiles, just as earlier He went primarily to the Jew. Individual Jews can certainly be saved in the age of grace, but the church is not to be mixed with Israel in the tribulation, because the tribulation is primarily God dealing with the nation of Israel.

Jeremiah 31:36

If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

More Questions

Will God ever cast aside Israel and be done with his chosen nation?

It is impossible for God to ever cast aside Israel, so no one should believe for a minute that God is through with his chosen nation Israel.

What does Jeremiah 31:35-36 mean about Israel ceasing to be a nation?

According to Jeremiah 31:35-36, Israel will remain a nation before God forever because her continuance is tied to the fixed ordinances of nature: only if the laws of the sun, moon, and stars depart, or heaven can be measured and the earth's foundations searched out, would God cast off the seed of Israel.

Why will God never cast off Israel or let Israel cease as a nation?

God will never cast off Israel or let Israel cease to be a nation, because Israel's continuation is tied to the impossible removal of the fixed ordinances of nature and to the impossible task of measuring heaven and searching out the foundations of the earth.
