What is everything God has done and is doing on our behalf based on?
Everything God has done and is doing on our behalf is based on the finished work of the cross, where He did not spare His Son in order to purchase mankind back to Himself. God is holy and righteous, and He never goes against His own principles.
Les explains that in Romans 8:32, everything God now has done and is doing on our behalf is based upon the finished work of the cross. Another translation may say that He even did not spare His Son. The reason is so that He could purchase mankind back to Himself. If we are not taught in these things, we may wonder why God has to do this, since He is sovereign and could do any way He wanted. But God never goes against His own principles. He is holy, righteous, omnipotent, full of all knowledge, and He knows what has to be done to reconcile fallen man back to Himself.
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
