How does God accomplish everything He does?
God accomplishes everything He does by His spoken Word. Hebrews describes the Word of God as quick, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. At creation, His spoken Word brought the universes into being, and when He spoke to the dust, Adam appeared. Everything God does is done through His spoken Word.
Les explains that Revelation is written in symbolic language, but every symbol has a literal truth. The sword coming from Christ’s mouth is not an old iron Roman sword between His teeth; Hebrews 4:12 identifies the sword as the Word of God, which is quick, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. Les points back to creation: when God spoke, the universes came into being. When everything was prepared, He brought dust from the ground, spoke to it, and Adam appeared. So everything God does is done with the spoken Word. Faith comes by hearing, but we cannot hear until God speaks the Word.
