What is everything God does for us based on?
Everything God has done and is doing on our behalf is based on the finished work of the cross, where He did not spare His Son so He could purchase mankind back to Himself. It rests on God's own principles: He is holy, righteous, omnipotent, and all-knowing, and He never acts contrary to His nature.
Les teaches that Romans 8:32 shows everything God has done and is doing on our behalf is based on the finished work of the cross. There, God did not spare His Son so He could purchase mankind back to Himself. Les explains that someone might ask why God has to do this, since He is sovereign and could do things any way He wanted. But God never goes against His own principles. He is holy, righteous, omnipotent, and full of all knowledge, so He knows exactly what must be done to reconcile fallen man back to Himself. Thus the cross is the foundation, consistent with God's unchanging character.
