What happens to our body when Jesus Christ returns?

At His return, the Lord Jesus Christ will change the believer’s vile body and fashion it like His own glorious body. Philippians 3:20–21 states that from heaven we look for the Savior, who will transform our body. Scripture also affirms that the eternal state includes a body, not a bodiless soul or spirit.

Les teaches that the believer’s citizenship is already in heaven, and from that same heaven we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. At His return, He “shall change our vile body that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body.” Les also stresses that the eternal state is not bodiless: never in all Scripture does the human being operate without a body, and the soul and spirit by itself does not operate as an entity—it has to have a body. This change is according to Christ’s working, whereby He is able even to subdue all things unto Himself.

Philippians 3:20

For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

Philippians 3:21

Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
