Les Feldick Bible Study

What happens when material things become a person's first priority?

When material things become a person’s first priority, they blind him to spiritual truths. The result is spiritual death and eternal doom without end, and he will be sorry someday, wishing his priorities had been straightened out; to be carnally minded is death.

Les explains that the world is largely unconcerned with the things of the spirit, chasing salary, bigger homes, cars, boats, and similar possessions. Those things are not wrong in their rightful place. The danger comes when they become the first priority: they blind a person to spiritual truths, and that person will be sorry someday, wishing their priorities had been straightened out. Les contrasts the outcome: to be carnally minded is death—spiritual death and eternal doom without end—while to be spiritually minded is life and peace, even eternal life.
