Les Feldick Bible Study

When do material possessions become spiritually dangerous?

Material possessions become spiritually dangerous when they become the first priority and blind a person to spiritual truths. While possessions are not wrong in their rightful place, prioritizing them over spiritual matters leads to spiritual death and eternal doom, whereas being spiritually minded brings life and peace.

Les explains that as we rush toward the end time, the world is largely unconcerned about the things of the spirit. People focus on how much salary they can make, how big a home they can live in, how many cars they can drive, and how many boats they can own. Les notes that there is nothing wrong with these things in their rightful place. However, when they become the first priority and blind a person to spiritual truths, that person will be sorry someday and will wish they had straightened out their priorities. Les contrasts being carnally minded, which is spiritual death and eternal doom without end, with being spiritually minded, which brings life and peace—eternal life.
