What did God tell Moses to do in Egypt?
God told Moses He was sending him in to Pharaoh to lead His people—the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the twelve sons—out of Egypt. He was to bring them to Himself, and God would begin working with this little nation and prepare them for the coming of the Messiah.
Les explains that about 500 years after Abraham, God called out Moses while Israel was in Egypt and multiplying. God said He would send Moses in to Pharaoh to lead His people—who came from Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the twelve sons—out of Egypt, bring them to Himself, and start working with this little nation to prepare them for the coming of the Messiah. That was the whole purpose of bringing the nation out of Egypt. Genesis had promised Jacob that in Egypt God would make of him and the twelve sons a nation, and the Jewish nation came from those twelve sons. Later, Moses was given the law about 1500 BC, 500 years after Abraham was called out of Syria.
