What did God tell Moses to do at Mount Nebo?
God instructed Moses to go up to Mount Nebo in the land of Moab, opposite Jericho, overlooking Canaan, which God was giving Israel. There Moses was to view the land and then die on the mountain, being gathered to his people, just as Aaron died on Mount Hor.
Les explains that Moses had finished his speech and had written the song for Israel to remember. Then God spoke to Moses the same day, telling him to get up into the mountain, unto Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, over against Jericho. From Mount Nebo he could look at the land of Canaan, which God was giving to the children of Israel for a possession. God also told Moses to die in the mount where he went up and to be gathered unto his people, just as Aaron his brother died in Mount Hor.
Get thee up into this mountain Abarim, unto mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession:
From Mount Nebo, what land could Moses see?
From Mount Nebo, in the land of Moab opposite Jericho, Moses could see the land of Canaan. God called Canaan the possession He was giving to the children of Israel. Scripture records that Moses could look at it from Mount Nebo before he died on that mountain.
Why was Moses told to climb Mount Nebo before he died?
God told Moses to go up Mount Nebo in Moab, opposite Jericho, so he could look over the land of Canaan that God was giving to Israel as a possession. There he was to die and be gathered to his people, just as Aaron died on Mount Hor.
