Why did God call Moses and send him to Pharaoh in Egypt?
God called Moses and sent him to Pharaoh to lead Israel, descendants of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and the 12 sons, out of Egypt; to bring them to Himself, form them as a nation, and prepare them for the coming Messiah.
Les explains that after about 500 years, Israel was in Egypt and multiplying. God called Moses and told him He would send him to Pharaoh to lead His people—those descended from Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the 12 sons—out of Egypt. The purpose was to bring them to Himself, begin working with this little nation, and prepare them for the coming of Messiah. Les notes this was the whole purpose of bringing the nation out of Egypt, fulfilling what Genesis said: God promised Jacob that in Egypt He would make of Jacob and the 12 sons a nation, and the Jewish nation came from those 12 sons.
