Does the Holy Spirit dwell inside every believer?

Yes. Scripture teaches that the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, indwells the believer. He is in us, and this indwelling is taken by faith. The Spirit searches the believer’s heart and intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

Les explains that this is a concept we cannot fully understand: a person of the Godhead dwelling in me? Yet he says, “Absolutely!” because that is what the book says. He teaches that the third person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit, is indwelling the believer. Through the Holy Spirit, God searches the heart of the believer, because it is the Holy Spirit who makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. This does not leave out the Son; all three are involved: the Holy Spirit intercedes to the Son, and the Son intercedes to the Father. Les also stresses that the verse saying “all things work together for good” is qualified—it is for the believer, not for everybody or the world necessarily.
