Who is the Holy Spirit who indwells believers?
The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity, God the Spirit, who comes to indwell every believer the moment they believe. Their body becomes His temple, and He remains with them wherever they go, just as God's Shekinah glory filled Solomon's temple.
Les explains that the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity—God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit—and that this third Person comes and indwells the believer. Every believer receives the Spirit the moment he believes, so the body is the temple of the indwelling Holy Spirit. Because the Spirit is present, God knows every thought, every place, and everything we do. Les illustrates this with Solomon's temple: when it was dedicated, the presence of God in the Shekinah glory came down into it, and God dwelt there. That was a foreview of this age of grace, where at salvation an individual becomes a temple, a dwelling place, and the Holy Spirit comes into him just as the Shekinah glory came into Solomon's temple. He also warns that you cannot check God at the door of an ungodly place; you take Him wherever you go.
