What is the basic purpose of the Bible?
The Bible's basic purpose is to help people escape the wrath of a righteous God. It was given to the human race for that sole purpose. God already extended His love through the cross, and those who spurn that love face rejection at the Great White Throne.
Les teaches that this Book was given to the human race for basically the sole purpose of helping people escape the wrath of a righteous God. God created mankind to have someone He could love and a creature who could respond to that love. He extends His love to the whole human race, and the cross was the whole idea of that love—He loved us and gave Himself for us. Those who spurn that love, God in His sovereignty has every right to reject at the Great White Throne. So the Bible's purpose is to help people escape that wrath.
