What is God's purpose for giving us the Bible?
God gave the Bible to bring people to the point of salvation. Every person must reach that point to escape God's wrath, and God has done everything possible to keep them from condemnation. He provided His Word and teachers so people can understand that all they must do is believe.
Les explains that the whole purpose of God giving this book is to bring us to the point of salvation. Every human being must reach that point to escape God's wrath, and God will do everything He can to keep every person from falling under condemnation. He has made salvation available, given us the Word, and given men willing to preach and teach it so we can understand that all we have to do is believe. Believing requires no working or energy; it is simply accepting what God has said. Les notes that when we believe, as Isaiah says, God clothes us with the garments of salvation and covers us with the robe of righteousness.
