Les Feldick Bible Study

Is the Adamic mind subject to the law of God?

No. The carnal or old Adamic mind is enmity against God and is not subject to the law of God. The unsaved person is not subject to God’s law, and God does not expect the unbeliever to keep His law.

Les teaches that the carnal or old Adamic mind is enmity against God. He points out that the next part of the verse is shocking: the Adamic mind, the Adamic nature, is not subject to the law of God. He says this is scary and that it is amazing man is as civilized as he is, because the unsaved person is not subject to the law of God. God does not expect the unbeliever to keep His law or to be a good person, since God sees down in his nature that he is anything but. Earlier, the context describes the rebellious state of mind that refuses to do what God says, refuses to admit being a sinner, and refuses to admit a spiritual lack; that rebellion makes one an enemy.

Romans 8:7

Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
