What happens if a believer feeds old Adam with the lustful desires of this world?

Feeding old Adam with the lustful desires of this world causes old Adam to be victorious. The flesh gains the upper hand, and the believer does not experience spiritual victory. By contrast, starving old Adam and feeding the spirit side is where victory comes from.

Les explains that just as the little dog fed the best is the one that becomes victorious, so it is in the believer’s life. If a believer feeds old Adam with all the lustful desires of this world, old Adam will be victorious. But if Adam is kept starved and the spirit side is fed, that is where victory comes in. This is why believers must stay in the book and constantly nourish the inner man, the Spirit of God, through the Word, fellowship, and prayer. Going to church twice a year cannot maintain Christianity; spiritual survival requires constant feeding. There is a warfare between the old Adam and the new, and Paul in Romans 7 describes this struggle, saying, 'that which I do, I allow not.'
