Les Feldick Bible Study

What happens when a person's old Adam gets the best of him?

When the old Adam gains the upper hand, a person loses control and is caught in sin, cheating, and destructive behavior. The result is a ruined life, as seen in a successful businessman who ends up in federal prison, his reputation and life destroyed.

Les explains that people often try to put on their own veneer instead of God's covering, working at it for a lifetime. When the old Adam finally gets the best of them, they cannot control him; they are caught in a trap of sin, cheating, and destruction. He gives the example of a successful wealthy businessman who ends up in federal prison with his life destroyed. By contrast, when a person is covered with the righteousness of God, those things do not happen. Les clarifies that a believer can still sin, but it is a whole different ballgame, because the believer is covered with the garments of salvation and a robe of righteousness.
