What is our responsibility because of God's grace?
Because God has poured out His grace not only on Israel or America but on the whole world, our responsibility is to let the world know that His grace reaches even the vilest person. Grace is greater than sin, so we proclaim that no sinner is beyond it.
Les explains that Paul's gospel is that God has poured out His grace not just upon America or Israel but upon the whole world. That becomes our responsibility: to let the world know that the grace of God reaches to the vilest person. He reminds us that where sin abounds, grace is always greater. As an example, Les shares the account of Dwight L. Moody, who preached on God's grace in Chicago. Afterward, a weeping man—a recruiter for the prostitution trade—thought God's grace could not help him because of the many young girls he had ruined. Moody told him, "That's the grace of God." Les says this is as good an example as he can find, other than Paul himself, that God's grace can go far beyond the most vile sinner we can dream of. It is incomprehensible and almost unbelievable, yet the Word clearly declares: "You are not under the law, you're under grace." Our responsibility, therefore, is to proclaim that grace to the world.
