What did Christ accomplish as the second Adam in contrast to Adam?
As the second Adam, Christ accomplished everything necessary to bring fallen humanity back to Himself. While Adam, as federal head, plunged the human race into condemnation, Christ's work provides abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness, so those who receive Him reign in life through Him.
Les explains that Adam was the federal head of the human race, and his offense plunged everyone into condemnation, so that death reigned by one man. By contrast, the second man, the second Adam, accomplished everything necessary to bring fallen man back to Himself. Through Christ Jesus, those who receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life, not because of what they do but because of what He accomplished. Les also stresses that this salvation is not something people must attain or work for; it is laid right in front of every human being. The only difference now is that there must be an exercise of will to receive it.
