How does Christ undo the condemnation that Adam brought?
Christ, as the last Adam, is a quickening spirit who gives life. Where Adam's disobedience plunged all people into condemnation, God makes it possible for every fallen son of Adam to become a regenerate son of God. Christ quickens those dead in trespasses and sins, making them alive.
Les explains that Adam, as the federal head of the human race, plunged everyone into condemnation by his disobedience, so every human being from Cain onward is a fallen creature. But God did not leave it there. He sent the second man, the Christ, making it possible for every degenerate son of Adam to become a regenerate son of God. In 1 Corinthians 15:45, the first Adam was made a living soul, while the last Adam, Jesus Christ, is a quickening spirit—life-giving. Les notes the word 'was made' is italicized, added by translators, and better left out. Ephesians 2:1 confirms that those dead in trespasses and sins have been quickened, made alive.
