What did God do to fix the condemnation caused by Adam?
God did not leave humanity in condemnation. He brought the second man, the Christ, the last Adam, as a quickening Spirit, making it possible for every degenerate son of Adam to become a regenerate son of God. Scripture says those dead in trespasses and sins He has quickened, made alive.
Les explains that Adam, as the federal head of the whole human race, plunged everyone into condemnation through his act of rebellion, so every human being beginning with Cain has been a fallen creature. But God did not leave it there. He comes with the second man, the Christ, and makes it possible for every degenerate son of Adam to become a regenerate son of God. In 1 Corinthians 15:45, the first man Adam was made a living soul, while the last Adam, Jesus the Christ, is a quickening spirit. Les says quickening means life-giving, and he connects this to Ephesians 2:1, where those who were dead in trespasses and sin have been quickened, made alive.
