How did God reconcile the human race from Adam's condemnation?
God reconciled the human race from Adam’s condemnation through the person of Jesus Christ. Christ paid the debt and made everything possible to bring men back to Himself. Although people inherited Adam’s fallen condition and did not personally eat the forbidden fruit, God provided restoration by faith, not by human merit.
Les explains that Adam was created innocent, sinless, and perfect, but Adam fell. God then decreed that everyone coming from Adam would be a fallen creature. People are not guilty sinners because they personally ate the forbidden fruit or committed Adam’s exact sin; they inherited condemnation as sons of Adam, born spiritually dead, destitute, and enemies of God. Yet God did everything to bring that fallen creature back to his original state if they would believe. It has always been by faith—Adam and Eve were restored by faith, and so were the Old Testament believers. The gift is not as the one that sinned: Christ did not go through what Adam did, but superseded it. Everything Adam accomplished to bring the human race into condemnation, God through the person of Jesus Christ has reconciled, paid the debt, and done everything possible to bring men back to Himself.
