Is there a possibility of persecution for believers in America?

Les teaches that although salvation opens access to God's grace by faith, believers are not promised a rose-petaled pathway or a Garden of Eden. They remain in the old world and in a body of flesh, living in a time of trials and tribulations. That is part of it, and God is not removing them from it; He says He will see them through. They may go through valleys, but God will always escort them and never forsake them. Les also says that when he reads of the potential of persecution coming on believers, even in America, the potential is there, because the world is getting adamant and, as one lady told him about her church environment, increasingly aggressive.
