Are Christians still being persecuted today?

Les teaches that while his audience has had it pretty good and likely has not gone through the perils Paul listed for the sake of the Gospel, the future is unknown if the Lord does not come. Right now, he says, thousands upon thousands of Christians are being tortured, put to death, and sold into slavery in other parts of the world. He cites a survey showing that since 1900 more Christians have been martyred than in all the rest of the time back to Christ. He points to ruthless regimes: communism in Russia for 70 years, the Nazis in Germany, the Chinese, who have been ruthless and still are, and Africa.
