Does God guarantee that Christians in America will always be free from persecution?

No, there is no guarantee that Christians in America will always be free from persecution. Even America may suddenly find itself under such persecutions someday. But believers can rest in the assurance that regardless of what comes, God is for them, and the eternal realm is what ultimately matters.

Les teaches that there is no guarantee of the rights and democracy enjoyed for the last 200 years. He warns that even we in America may suddenly find ourselves someday under these same types of persecutions. But he points believers to rest in the fact that regardless of what comes, God is for us, and who can be against us? Les notes that even though persecutors may touch the flesh, Jesus said not to worry about those who can hurt the body, but to be concerned about the One who can hurt the soul, which is in the realm of the Spirit. He explains that what really counts is the eternal. He cites examples of torture, cruel mockings, scourgings, beatings, bonds, and imprisonment, and asks how such things happen if God is for us, answering that the eternal and spiritual realm is what matters. He warns that believers could find themselves in prison or facing famine, and says don't ever think it's utterly impossible. As the end time approaches, these things will come on us faster and faster.
