Why did Satan accuse Job of being obedient only for the blessings?
Satan accused Job of obedience only for blessings because God had blessed and prospered Job, and nothing bad had happened to him. Satan claimed Job was good only because God never let him touch him and only blessed him, so he asked permission to test Job.
Les explains that Satan could not stand Job's blessed, prosperous state, where nothing bad ever happened to him. When Satan came into the presence of God, he charged that Job was obedient only because God never allowed Satan to touch him; all God did was bless him. Satan therefore asked to 'have at him.' God permitted only a limited test—Satan could take this and that, but no more. Later Satan wanted to touch Job's heart and life, but God drew the line and did not allow it.
