What part of a person is made in God's image?

God's image resides in the inner, spiritual, eternal nature—the personality, comprising mind, will, and emotions. It is not the physical body or five senses, for God is Spirit and has no body to pattern after. The body is merely the temporary outer tent, not the location of God's image.

Les explains that when God created man in His image, it does not mean God was in the form of a man. The triune God is Spirit, so He was not patterning a creature after a physical appearance. Instead, the image of God is in the spiritual, eternal, invisible part of us—the personality. Les teaches that Adam was a trichotomous being: body, soul, and spirit. The body is the outer tent, the exercise of the five senses, temporary. Inside that tent are the eternal things, and it is there we are made in God's image, not in the body. The personality is comprised of mind, will, and emotions. Les uses circles on the board to illustrate this, noting many have commented on the enlightenment from this teaching over 20 years.
