Les Feldick Bible Study

What are the parts of a human being according to the Bible?

Scripture presents the human being as a three-part makeup: a visible physical body that we can see, touch, and function in, plus two invisible inner areas, the soul and the spirit. These three—body, soul, and spirit—together constitute the complete human constitution described in the biblical account.

Les explains that when you go back to the Genesis study, man was created with the physical body, which we can see and touch and function in. But within that body are two other invisible areas of our makeup: the soul and the spirit. This three-part makeup is the human constitution. The surrounding context stresses that because all are born of Adam's lineage, humanity is separated from God and dead spiritually, so eternal life cannot be earned by works.
