If God has no body, how could man be made in God's image?
Man is made in God's image spiritually, not physically. God is Spirit and does not have a body with five senses to pattern humans after. The likeness is in the eternal, invisible personality—mind, will, and emotions—rather than the temporary outer body, which is pictured as a tent.
Les explains that when God created man in His image, it did not mean God was in the form of a man or that He would make someone who looked like Him. What was God? Spirit. The triune God is still Spirit. Therefore the image is spiritual, eternal, and invisible—the personality, or true person, in the area of mind, will, and emotions. Adam was made a trichotomous, three-part being: body, soul, and spirit. The body is only the temporary outer tent and the exercise of the five senses, while the inner, eternal part is where we are made in God's image. God never had a body with five senses to pattern us after, but He is a personality comprised of mind, will, and emotions.
