What is God doing to keep people from being condemned?
God has done everything possible to keep every person from falling under condemnation. He gave the Word, provided men willing to preach and teach it, and made salvation available so that all anyone must do is believe—simply accepting what God has said, without working or energy.
Les explains that God's whole purpose in giving us this book is to bring us to the point of salvation, because every human being must reach that point to escape God's wrath. God does everything He can to keep every person from falling under condemnation, and He has made salvation so available. Les notes that people ask how a God of love and mercy could someday consign people to the lake of fire, but he says it will be easy because He has done everything possible to keep them from it. He gave the Word and gave men willing to preach and teach it so we can understand that all we have to do is believe. Les agrees with the quote from J. Vernon McGee that believing is the only thing man can do without working; there is no energy involved in believing. It is simply accepting what God has said, no questions asked, and when we do, as Isaiah says, we are clothed with the garments of salvation and covered with the robe of righteousness.
