Les Feldick Bible Study

Why are believers able to cope with the pressures of daily life?

Believers cope with daily pressures because old Adam has been crucified and his power broken, though they remain in the world. They live by the faithfulness of Christ, not their own, because of what Christ accomplished and is to them day by day.

Les teaches that old Adam has been put to death, crucified, and his power over daily behavior broken. Yet God does not take believers out when He saves them; He leaves them here to put up with the world and its pressures, and experientially old Adam still seems in force, though God reckons him dead. Paul says, "I have been crucified with Christ, yet nevertheless I live; not I, but Christ liveth in me." The life now lived in the flesh is lived by faith, which Les says is better understood as the faithfulness of Christ. It is because of what Christ accomplished on our behalf and what Christ is to us day by day that believers are able to cope—through His faithfulness, not ours. Christ loved me and gave Himself for me, a substitutionary act of God, and God saw every believer in Christ on the cross and reckoned them crucified.
