What is the full fruition of the Gospel?
It is that Christ was raised from the dead, victorious over sin, hell, death, and everything. Merely believing Jesus was a good man or that He died by crucifixion falls short. Paul trumpets that we are what we are because Christ died and rose victorious, breaking sin's bonds and shackles.
Les explains that the resurrection has to be the bedrock of our Gospel. Before Christ's arrest, Peter collapsed, cursed, and denied he ever knew Him, and ran scared; after the resurrection, Peter feared nobody—not Rome, not the Jews, not anybody—because he had witnessed the power of resurrection. Les teaches that it is not enough to believe Jesus was a good man or that He died a crucifixion. The Gospel must be taken to its whole fruition: Christ was raised from the dead, victorious over sin, hell, death, and everything. As Romans shows, Paul trumpets that we are what we are because not only did Christ die, but He rose victorious over our archenemy and was able to break the bonds and shackles of sin.
