What happens when you believe the Gospel?
The Gospel is that Christ died for you, was buried, and rose from the dead. When you believe that Gospel, you take Jesus Christ into your life, and He becomes your personal Savior. This is the true Gospel, not hellfire preaching or mere clichés about coming forward.
Les explains that hell, fire, and brimstone preaching is not the Gospel, and telling people to come forward and take Jesus into your life is not the Gospel by itself. The Gospel is that Christ died for you, was buried, and rose from the dead. When you believe that Gospel, you are taking Jesus Christ into your life, and He becomes your personal Savior. Using those little clichés by themselves is not the Gospel. This good news stands in contrast to the Law of sin and death, which has been with man ever since Adam ate, and it is superseded by the Law of the Spirit of Life. After Paul explained the dilemma in Romans 7, Romans 8 mentions the Holy Spirit 19 times, showing the Spirit's work.
