Can anyone fully understand the Gospel?

The Gospel is simple enough for the common person to comprehend, yet it is also so complex that no human can fully understand it. It is meant for ordinary people, not confined to seminaries or monasteries, but its depths exceed all human comprehension.

Les explains that the Gospel is meant for the common person, not to be kept only in seminaries and monasteries. He notes that an early Reformer—thought to be Tyndale or Wycliffe—prayed as he was being burned at the stake that every plow boy in England could have a copy of the Book. The teaching is presented on a level almost anybody can comprehend, though hearts must be opened by the Lord. Yet even with that simplicity, Les says the Gospel is so simple and yet so complex that he will never understand it, and he does not think any other human can either.
