How did Saul become the apostle of the Gentiles?

Saul became the apostle of the Gentiles through God's grace, which saved him on the road to Damascus. His conversion in Acts chapter 9 turned him from a zealous Jew practicing Judaism and likely high in the religious hierarchy into the apostle of the Gentiles.

Les teaches that Saul’s conversion is recorded in Acts chapter 9. He was a zealous Jew, practicing Judaism and probably quite high in the religious hierarchy. But as a result of God’s grace and saving him on the road to Damascus, he becomes the apostle of the Gentiles. Les notes that Saul, also called Paul, wrote to the Galatians by inspiration of the Holy Spirit about this tremendous turnaround.
