Why is Paul called THE apostle to the Gentiles?

Paul is called THE apostle to the Gentiles because God uniquely called him to that office, not as one of many but as the specific apostle. Others would follow in his footsteps, yet Paul remains the one to whom we must go for basic doctrines.

Les explains in this program that Paul was uniquely called of God to be the Apostle of the Gentiles. The point is that Paul is not merely one apostle among many, but he is THE Apostle. Others, of course, are going to follow in his footsteps. Nevertheless, Paul is the one to whom we must go for our basic doctrines. The context then moves into Romans verse 2, where Paul has been separated to the Gospel of God, which God had promised before by His prophets in the Holy Scriptures concerning His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, made of the seed of David according to the flesh. Les connects this to the promised line of redemption, the scarlet thread of salvation that starts in Genesis 3:15.
