Were the hippies of the 1960s actually free?

No. The 1960s hippie movement thought it was free and had broken all bonds of social behavior, but those people were not free; they were in the very bonds of Satan himself. They were bound, whereas the believer is truly set free by the power of God when we believe.

Les explains that back in the 1960s hippie movement, many thought they were free and that their lifestyle had broken all bonds of social behavior, so they could do as they pleased. But he says those people were not free; they were in the very bonds of Satan himself and were bound. By contrast, salvation breaks the bond of iniquity and the chains of Satan. The believer is truly set free, and all those shackles are broken by the very power of God when we believe. Simon, however, could not believe because all he could see was the material.
