What happened to Jerusalem, the temple, and Israel after the 40-year period?

At the end of the 40-year period, because Israel remained adamant in unbelief, the sovereign God permitted Rome to come in and destroy the city in an awful siege. The temple was destroyed, and Israel was sent into dispersion among all the nations, a dispersion that has begun to end but has not fully ended.

Les teaches that from the crucifixion until the destruction of the temple by the Roman army was 40 years, and the book of Acts covers that 40-year period when God was still dealing with His covenant people. At the end of those 40 years, Israel was still adamant in unbelief. Therefore, the sovereign God permitted Rome to come in and destroy the city in the most awful siege in all of ancient history. They destroyed the temple, and Israel was sent into a dispersion amongst all the nations of the world. Les notes that this dispersion has finally begun to come to an end, though it has not ended yet for the most part.
