How should believers use the Gospels if the Gospels were originally addressed to Israel under the law?
Believers should not throw out or blanket out the Gospels. They must recognize that in their original setting Jesus was speaking to Israel under the law, yet believers can come in and make legitimate applications, such as being the light of the world, without claiming those words were originally addressed to them.
Les teaches that the Gospels are not to be thrown out or blanketed out, but must be understood in their original setting: God dealing with Israel under the law. Yet believers can come in and make applications. For example, Israel was called the salt of the earth, but believers today are now the light of the world. That application is valid even though Jesus' earthly ministry was directed to Israel, not to believers.
