Les Feldick Bible Study

Can we apply the Gospel accounts to ourselves if they were spoken to Israel under the Law?

Yes, the Gospel accounts can have perfect applications for believers today, even though they were spoken to Israel under the Law. However, they must not be used for doctrine concerning grace, salvation, the Body of Christ, or the Rapture. They remain valuable for study and foundation because all things had their beginnings in the Old Testament.

Les explains that in the same way, throughout all the Gospel accounts, we can come in and see perfect applications, even though it was spoken to Israel under the Law. But he warns that we have to be careful. Paul says all these Old Testament things were written not for our doctrine. You will not find grace and salvation back in the Old Testament, nor anything concerning the Body of Christ or the Rapture. Yet that does not mean we do not study it. Les loves to teach Genesis because it contains the beginnings and foundation even for what grace-age believers believe. Ephesians 4 also speaks of the comfort of the Scriptures and hope.
